The Destructoid tips line gets lots of crazy-ass emails every day, and this one is among the craziest: a recent email advertised an iPhone app, “iPilule,” and billed said app as a “birth control reminder.” No, I’m not joking.

Here’s the first part of the email:

Hello there!

Introducing iPilule a birth control pill reminder for women using PUSH notifications and available in 7 languages.

Unlike a lot of other apps we designed it with the word “useful” in mind!

If you’re a guy, you know, the pill your girlfriend always forgets to take and then pretends she has headache ? Well no more excuses, now there’s an app for that !

And if you’re a girl well, you know…

I’m somewhat surprised that such a thing exists, but more surprised by the fact that we got an email about it — including an offer for a free code to download it, ostensibly for review — at a videogame website.

Also, if you need to be reminded by your goddamn phone to take your birth control pills, you’ve got bigger problems than said device can solve.

So maybe after getting a whole bunch of Broadway musicals this weekend I also got the music to a bunch of Disney movies. Want to make something of it?

This is one of my favorite Disney tunes. I love the idea of entrance songs, like a song that plays whenever you walk in the room (I think I mentioned before mine would be MC5’s Kick out the Jams). This - this is the epitome of all entrance songs.

I used to love to sing this with my kids. One of the highlights of our last Disney trip was the Aladdin parade where we go to see this performed. It was spectacular.

There are a few Christmas traditions that must be upheld each year in my family. One is watching It’s A Wonderful Life. Another is watching Dylan Thomas’s A Child’s Christmas In Whales. Another is having a buffet-style family “feast” on Christmas Eve.

And another is watching this film. It’s funny, sure, but it also beautifully captures an ideal Christmas atmosphere, from the soundtrack to the scenery to even the sweaters Kevin wears. All-around, a surprisingly beautiful, touching film. Where two burglars are mutilated horribly by an eight-year-old.

And Buzz? Your girlfriend. Woof.

Home Alone and its sequel — as similar to the original as it is — are two of my all-time favorite Christmas movies.

It’s also a reflection of my lack of trust for any and all people. I want trust people but I’m so jaded and have been since I was in the 5th grade and learned how shady women can be. I don’t say this for people to feel badly because of course, I’ve long moved on from the childhood tribulations. But psychologically speaking, this is why I think the way I do, now. I’m so uncertain of people.

Knowing that there is a circle of people that talk about me now, makes me sick to my stomach. Apparently people don’t change in adulthood. But I suppose it doesn’t matter. It really baffles me when people that make it a point to uphold their image as smart, respectable women can act so immaturely.

Meh. I live my life by this credo: You do you, and fuck the haters.

“The Tick” animated series is in my top 5 favorite shows of all time. And this episode is easily one of the best of the series. Evil Midnight Bomber What Bombs at Midnight is a fountain of hilarity, overflowing with quotable goodness. The first scene, in the car? Amazing. Gah. Watch, watch, watch.

I’ve been thinking of a way to say thank you for making Battle Studies such a huge success out of the gate… I’ve also been thinking of a way to use tumblr as a means of posting some more substantial stuff… So here’s a very raw, live solo version of “Edge of Desire” I just recorded in my apartment as a way to show my gratitude to you all for extending my time in this amazing career you’ve helped me build.

I think if you were kind enough to spent the 13 bucks, you should get some free music for the next good while.

So here it is. A song about late night longing recorded at 3am. iPhone dinging in the background and all…(that’s how I knew the take was going to be worth sticking with, as the best takes always get interrupted.)
