Sad ‘Cause It’s True of the Day: It’s Teacher Appreciation Week, and Jimmy Kimmel’s gift to educators across the country was an opportunity to give their students’ parents a piece of their minds.

My mom teaches kindergarten, and I am continually amazed by the amount of shit she has to put up with.

Happy anniversary, Mom and Dad.
Yesterday (February 13th) was my parents’ 25th anniversary. My brother and I are “throwing” them a party (I say “throwing” because my mom’s actually putting it together; she just wanted the invitations to come from us) on March 19th, but we celebrated this weekend in a low-key but sweet way, I think.
On Saturday night, my brother and I made dinner: baked ziti (above), with Caesar salad and some warm bread/butter on the side. It came out really well! The cheese isn’t burned; the dark stuff that you see is basil sprinkled on top.
Tonight, we presented my parents with a gift that we put together: seven family photos in two nice frames, spanning three generations over the past 25 years.
Both the dinner and the photos made my mom cry, so I think we did something right.

My mom, my brother, and I went to India in July/August 2008. I took a crapload of photos while we were there.
I am only just now getting around to uploading them to the internet. I’d say that I was busy, but mostly, I’m just a slacker.
First up: 41 photos from our time at the Taj Mahal. If you’re curious, all photos were taken with my Canon PowerShot A700. Click through for the full album on Facebook!

My mom, dad, and brother — all of whom work full-time — have the day off, while I have school as usual. Bah. Hell, my parents went apple-picking this morning, and all weekend, my mom kept forgetting that I have school today, so she repeatedly asked me, “Hey, do you want to come apple-picking with us? It’s going to be great!” And I had to keep going, “YOU KNOW I HAVE SCHOOL, DAMMIT.”

Another food stuff from Deadly Premonition. Secrets!

My brother explained to my mom the other day that processed meat (such as hot dogs and bacon) will kill you because it has nitrates in it, and my mom vowed never to buy either of those things again.
I need to win the lottery so I can move out.

This Is Heartwarming, You Should Watch It of the Day: StoryCorps’ very first animated short features a real-life interview between Sarah Littman and her son Joshua, a 12-year-old boy with Asperger’s.

Moms are great.

[buzzfeed.]

Totally just remembered I have no idea what I’m getting my mom for Mother’s Day. Eek.
