Damn Nature U Pretty of the Day: Sarosh Jacob goes for a dip in Jellyfish Lake on the island of Eil Malk, Palau.

Twelve thousand years ago these jellyfish became trapped in a natural basin on the island when the ocean receded. With no predators amongst them for thousands of years, they evolved into a new species that lost most of their stinging ability as they no longer had to protect themselves. They are pretty much harmless to humans although some people with very sensitive skin may get a minor irritation from them.

[thanks sarosh!]

Reblogging as much for the content of the video (I want to go to there!) as for the soundtrack (Radiohead’s “Nude”).

Lights Out: Landscape photographer Terje Sorgjerd (previously) scaled Pico del Teide, Spain´s highest elevation, to capture footage of the Milky Way atop “one of the best places in the world to photograph the stars.”

Warning: May cause feelings of extreme insignificance.

Breathtaking. The piano score adds so much, too.

This is so surreal.

If you’re wondering what this is, it’s a video of the roof of the Humbert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis caving in under close to two feet of snow. Pretty incredible.
